Science of Cocktails Smoked Pineapple Martini

This Feb. 4, Science World turns into a mixology laboratory where some of the wildest and most scientific-ky cocktails will be poured by expert local drink-makers.

This open bar event features 25 different stations serving creations like a Smoked Pineapple Martini — with the smoking process done right in front of you — and a Chocolate Rum Old Fashioned infused with liquid nitrogen. Media were invited to see some of these mixologists in action during an advance preview.

Being Science World, there are also going to be fun educational displays and exhibits set up — people can test their ability to function while wearing a pair of beer goggles to simulate inebriation, try and identify the various aromatics used in gin infusions, or build custom glow-in-the-dark wine glass charms and more. Railtown Catering will be onsite to serve hors d’oeuvres to those working up an appetite while learning.

During check-in, guests receive passports to vote for their favourite bartenders competing to win the evening’s cocktail competition, and can use them to enter for prizes like a Tesla Motors Package that includes an evening with a Tesla vehicle. Tickets for the event are $145 for general admission and $250 for VIP, which offers special pre-event festivities and access to the VIP Lounge.

Proceeds from sales go towards supporting the Class Field Trip Program, providing children from underserved schools the opportunity to visit Science World for free.
